This Cobra CXR725 review is meant to help you make an informed decision on whether this model of walkie talkie is the right buy for you. If you are looking for a compact walkie talkie at around the $50 mark and yet want to make no compromises on quality, the Cobra CXR725 walkie talkie could be the best walkie talkie buy for you.
With its transmission range of 27 miles and other features the CXR725 is very similar to other models from Cobra, specifically the CXR825 and CXR925 series. With other models being so similar, which features are the same and which features are different from the CXR725 model and how does it perform when compared to the other models?
Features
The most important feature of the Cobra CXR725 walkie talkie is obviously it’s 27 mile range. for walkie talkies of its price range this is reasonably large, but rest asured the CXR725 has many more features available.
A unique Cobra feature is Vibration alert, through which you will be intimated of notifications both in noisy and quiet environments. With this unit you can also enable voice activated transmission mode, with which you will be able to keep your hands free for other purposes. There are five levels of voice activation that you get to choose from so you don’t have to keep carrying the radio in your hands while communicating with your team no matter how close or far away your radio is.
You will have a wide choice of 3124 channel combinations with this radio, because it comes up with 22 channels and 142 security codes. When situations are not so critical, and the person you are trying to communicate with is closer to you than the maximum range you can adjust the power output of your radio. You can change it from High Power to a Low-Powered mode, through which, you get to save the life of your battery as well.
You can choose from 10 inbuilt call tones in this radio, which helps you to differentiate among callers. In order to help easy detectability during night hours, there is a bright LCD screen available on this radio, which comes as a huge blessing in times of emergencies and for sending out SOS.

With this analysis it is quite evident that though the CXR925 model costs the most out of the three models compared, it is worth every penny purely because of the superior and advanced features it offers for users. I recently bhogut a pair of these Cobra MicroTalk CXR925 two-way radios to use as test’ replacement radios for our 6.5 acre, 4 building mini-campus (mostly we purchased based on various strong customer reviews and the longer charge life of lithium batteries, which we need for a full 8 Hr workday’s usage.) Five years ago, we purchased several pairs of earlier Cobra MicroTalk LI 6000 WX two-way radios, which were perfect for our facilities; they are durable, and perform wonderfully for our day-to-day staff operations purposes. Unfortunately, a couple of them have begun to fail due to almost 5 years of hard, daily usage and normal wear and tear but they were a great investment during their working lives and some are still working like champs. Disappointingly, our 2 newer and more expensive test’ Cobra MicroTalk CXR925 replacements have proven to be an unsuccessful replacement of our older Cobra LI 6000 WX models. The only problem (but a major one) is that at the highest volume setting of ‘8 on these CXR925s, these 2 new radios are barely audible and my maintenance and janitorial employees have complained that they often have to place the units right up to their ears to clearly hear transmissions. We now only use these 2 newer CXR925 units with office personnel and with earpieces. Wish Cobra still made the LI 6000 WX model.IMPORTANT REVIEW NOTE / CUSTOMER FOLLOW-UP FOR THE ABOVE REVIEW: This is a follow-up to the above review by the myself, the author. I sent the above mentioned 2 radios back to Cobra’s factory repair services per instructions from their repair department shortly after writing this review. Within a couple of weeks, my 2 radios (the same ones I sent back) were returned to me and the previous volume issue with both units was completely corrected. Both units are now working perfectly and at volume levels that are more than acceptable. Great customer support!THANKS COBRA for standing behind your product and repairing these radios to my satisfaction!
